U.S. grapples with idea of permanent nuclear N.Korea

http://www.reuters.com/article/newsOne/idUSTRE54S3XY20090529

We're too late. The UN is too late. But if there is still time, let's sit and think (or sht and stink) some more, to make sure it will be too late. Because it seems the only time that some of us can justify force is only after we've been hit. Otherwise we will appear aggressive and intimidating, and won't be able to live with ourselves or with the world's perception of us. So tell you what, for all those who think that way, if we are to be hit first, they should volunteer to be in the bullseye. The rest of us don't want to die, and will fight like hell afterwards.

Note to BO: This is what inaction ultimately leads to. History is replete with such examples.

Now substitute Iran for N. Korea in the title. Coming soon. At this rate, real soon.

I hate these anonymous sources. What's up with that? Either put your name on it, or shut up.

You are peddling fear. Are there things to fear? No doubt. Am I going to start shaking in my boots because somebody behind a curtain is telling scary stories? No way.

"So tell you what, for all those who think that way, if we are to be hit first, they should volunteer to be in the bullseye."

That is also good advice to those who think we should be flying Predator drones all over Pakistan. Get yourselves, or your children, over there in the mountainous, and be first to engage the Taliban on the front lines.

  2. At least you didn't say fear mongering.

Well, I apologize. It sucks when the harsh world of reality ruins our otherwise sheltered utopian existence.

You know, just before Hilter rose to power, those Jews in Germany who spoke of the worst, were also accused of peddling fear. But they were the ones who got out in time.

I was referring to the anonymous sources. The threats, or potential threats, that arrive courtesy of people claiming to need anonymity are not injecting reality into our existence [sheltered, utopian, or otherwise], but playing manipulative games designed to neutralize citizen oversight of government activity.

Read the paper, and count the number of anonymous citations, and the reasons given for keeping the secrets. It's too dangerous to show you what's happening .... you're not sophisticated enough to understand our plan ... too sensitive ... the negotiations are still taking place ... it sounds like a George Orwell novel.

I don't know why Hitler found his way into this discussion, nor how he relates to North Korea's nuclear ambitions.
