Oh, man...
Hundreds arrested. Uncounted numbers killed. Forced confessions of guilt. No reporters allowed.
Hey, on that last point, I recall the world outrage when Israeli forces in Gaza kicked out reporters. Well where's the outrage, now?
And what's with this God business? Did God elect Ahmadinejad? Or is Ahmadinejad God?
And now that Obama has criticized Iran, is the US at war with God, too? (You'd better believe they think so.)
You have got to be kidding me. This is so absurd. These people are seeking to get nukes, and we are going to try to talk them out of it? They already know the outcome. Just look at North Korea. That's turning out well. Why would we handle Iran any differently?
How about we take bets on when Israel will bomb Iran's nuclear facilities (Syrian style.)

The world may be witnessing the sprouting of democracy in Iran, but it may not take root. It will take when the Iranian people are ready [actually, when the women of Iran are ready - the men don't have it bad enough there to rebel in significant numbers]. Witness? Yes! Support? Yes. Intervene? No. It can't be done for them.
ReplyDeleteI doubt there would have been as much outrage over press bans during Israel's attack of Gaza had journalists been banned from covering events in Israel. The outrage was over Israel's attempts to prevent MSM coverage of the atrocities they committed in Gaza - largely successful.
The only pseudo democracy in the world is right here and even ours is shaky. I don't feel as though my voice is heard, other than voting once a year for choices that are not truly good ones. Unfortunatelly, our country is run by corporations, however this is the best there is in the world so we deal with it. If you mean democracy sprouting in Iran is overthrowing one corrupt regime to install a new one, then maybe it is sprouting. I have yet to see or believe any type of free democratic government can exist in the middle east, the people don't know how to or want to live in freedom, very much like Russia, they all like the strong hand of a leader that oppresses them.
ReplyDeleteAs for Israel, we go back to the old tired arguments, Israel is the aggressor, the one committing atrocities (a word that I find offensive and truly out of context), while the poor innocent Palestinian lambs who peacefully seek a truce get pounded by Israel unprovoked. Right? Is that how it is? Come on, get real.
Israel took action and it wasn't pretty but I think the rockets are not falling in Sderot anymore, and it they do then pound Gaza again.
